1. Who we are

This policy describes how Somang Society (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use our websites and related pages (including this event and RSVP experience). We are a California-based nonprofit organization.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect categories of personal information recognized under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including:

• Identifiers — such as name, email address, and phone number when you provide them (for example, through RSVP or contact forms).
• Internet or network activity — basic technical data from your browser or device (such as IP address, device type, and general usage information) as collected by our hosting or analytics providers.
• Other information you choose to provide — such as messages or notes submitted with a request.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to operate our programs and events, process RSVPs and donations, respond to inquiries, improve our websites, comply with law, and protect the security and integrity of our services. We do not sell personal information as “sell” is defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in a manner that would trigger CPRA “sharing” opt-out rights in typical nonprofit event use.

4. California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have the rights below subject to applicable law and exceptions (including Civil Code § 1798.100 et seq.):

• Right to know / access — Request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
• Right to delete — Request deletion of personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
• Right to correct — Request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
• Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — Where applicable, request limits on certain uses of sensitive personal information.
• Non-discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

5. “Shine the Light” (California Civil Code § 1798.83)

California residents may request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Because we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing in the manner described by that statute, no such list is maintained. If our practices change, we will update this policy and provide the disclosures required by law.

6. Children’s privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of minors under 16 as those terms are used under California law. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 16 in error, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Security & retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, legal compliance, or legitimate organizational records.

8. Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes may be posted on this page or communicated as required by law.
